Chilliwack, BC - GBR Kart Racing Inc. (GBR) of Chilliwack, British Columbia, the official North American distributor for the Lewis Hamilton chassis, is loaded up and heading east across two provinces to contest the second weekend of the Western Canadian Championship being held at the technical confines of the Martensville Karting Circuit located just east of Saskatoon, SK. The Saskatoon Kart Club will play host for rounds three and four of the six round Rotax Max Challenge series. The GBR Karting Team was dominant in the opening weekend at Greg Moore Raceway in several classes as they look to make strides on the Lewis Hamilton chassis. GBR Karting and the new Lewis Hamilton Kart excelled under extreme competition with a total of nine podiums in seven double-header classes, including four wins, three seconds and two thirds along with numerous top fives.
"Saskatoon is a track the drivers enjoy and our team generally performs well at," states Kevin Glover, team manager for GBR Karting. "It's a difficult track to be fast at which is a challenge we enjoy. We're expecting the qualities of the LH Kart to really surface at this track, which is traditionally difficult to tune for."
Chris Glover will be looking to extend his lead in the Rotax Senior Max points tally, while Daniel Burkett and Vitali Tchikichev will be charging hard to move into the top five from their current sixth and seventh positions respectively in the standings. The traditionally quick Kyle Georgeson will also be in attendance hoping to escape some of his bad luck from Chilliwack, so look for him near the front. In Rotax Junior Max, Zacharie Scalzo will represent GBR Karting and the LH Kart and will no doubt be challenging for the win. Rotax Mini Max sees Jeff Fulham in third, only ten points off the lead and you can bet he will be working extremely hard to come out of this race leading the championship. In the premier Rotax DD2 Max class, multi-time Team Canada member Kyle Herder and DD2 rookie Daniel Burkett will want to come out of this race in the same, or perhaps reversed, positions as they're currently holding the first and second spots with an 11 point spread between them.
"Coming into this weekend I have the points lead and that's something I really hope to maintain when we leave. Every time we head out west it's an adventure with new tracks and new drivers," comments reigning 2010 DD2 National Champion Kyle Herder. "I have known Kevin for many years and in fact Chris worked on my ICA engines years ago. One of the highlights for me is working with DD2 rookie Daniel Burkett. We have really meshed well and I like his speed."
