Chilliwack, BC - GBR Kart Racing Inc. (GBR) of Chilliwack, British Columbia, the official North American distributor for the Lewis Hamilton chassis, will make the trek over the Rocky Mountains to the rolling hills of Calgary, Alberta to compete in the final two rounds of the Western Canadian Championship. The WCC final weekend takes place at 1.1 km Varsity Speed Park, home of the Calgary Kart Racing Club, host for the critical final weekend of regional Rmax competition. GBR heads into the final weekend with four drivers in a position to earn a championship title. For some classes an invitation to the 2011 edition of Team Canada and a trip to the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals is on the line.
In Rotax DD2 Max, two GBR LH Karts sit inside the top three with Kyle Herder leading the way and Daniel Burkett sitting in third spot, only two points back. Herder will be looking to make his second consecutive trip to the World Finals as a driver in DD2, his third consecutive trip to the big show. In Rotax Senior Max, Chris Glover is currently leading the field by a sizeable 22-point margin and will be working hard to take home the championship in order to represent Canada for a second time at the Rotax World Finals. Glover's first trip being Egypt in 2009.
In Rotax Junior Max Zachary Scalzo, though currently sitting in sixth place in the points tally, will be pushing extremely hard this weekend as the points picture in this class changes dramatically once the drop is applied. In another Junior class, Rotax Mini Max driver Jeff Fulham is currently sitting in second place, a mere seven points back from the leader. In only his second year of karting, Fulham is performing beyond expectations at the highest level.
"The fact that we're able to challenge for a championship in four very tough classes is a testament to the wonderful team, drivers and equipment here at GBR," states Team Manager Kevin Glover. "The team has worked hard all season and up to now, the results show it. If Zac and Jeff have a very good weekend, with a little luck they can win this thing."
